Food banks have reported an enormous surge in demand in recent years, as many people living in the UK are faced with the ravages of the cost of living crisis. Food banks are vital for more reasons than one. Not only do they feed those in need, but they offer support and help to those gripped by poverty. It is a Christian principle to help those in need and with this in mind, we support our local food bank and local community.
Within our EEMC there are a number of Food Bank “drop off” points:-
The following churches are always open and there is a clearly labelled box at the back of the church:
- St Cuthbert’s, Great Salkeld;
- All Saints, Renwick;
- St Nicholas, Lazonby, open during the day – clearly labelled box at back of church;
- St Peter’s, Langwathby, always open, clearly labelled box in front porch;
- Langwathby Methodist Church, always open, basket just inside inner door.
