Wonderful things are happening within our small community as use of the building and congregations increase following a £225,000 refurbishment completed in 2021. This was made possible through our active work with children and older people.
Our Little Acorns Creative Christian Children’s Club, is a vital part of our mission to the local community and our weekly Tuesday ‘Hebrews’ Coffee Mornings provides opportunity for fellowship and crafts for older residents.
John Wesley the founder of Methodism took a personal interest in designing the first chapel which was erected in 1774. The existing sandstone Victorian chapel and adjoining school room, was built in 1864 and the 150th anniversary was celebrated in 2014 with a re-enactment of John Wesley’s first visit in 1751, when he preached from the vantage point at Hill Top Farm. This event proved the catalyst for the establishment of Little Acorns and the subsequent refurbishment which was made possible by generous grants from a wide range of funders.
