Retirement Tea for Revd Katharine

After six years as our joint mission community leader, Revd Katharine Butterfield is taking well earned retirement.

The East of Eden Mission Community hosted a retirement tea laid on by Katy Edgar, for Revd Katharine, at Melmerby village hall on Saturday afternoon, 26th July. Over 140 people gathered from all the Churches and Chapels across the Mission Community  to give thanks and express their gratitude and appreciation for the wonderful service she has provided over the years and to wish her all the best in her retirement, as she prepares to move to Cockermouth from Kirkoswald.

During her time as leader it was clear that Mission was a central part of Revd Katharine’s ministry and many have benefitted from her pastoral care in times of difficulty and loss. The Mission Community also found she was a true Leader and encourager of others to pick up the mantle of service leaders, as well as a wise counsellor, a thoughtful friend and a source of profound strength to all our worshipping communities. She will certainly be missed.
