Revd. Andrew Burrell
Our church building is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
“The church is believed to date from the C13th although extensively restored and enlarged in the C19th. The mediaeval east window is partly original although heavily restored with C19th tracery probably copied from the original geometry. There is a C13th tomb cover effigy of a knight to the north side of the chancel. The architectural character of the building is dominated by the extent of the C19th alterations.”
This history, although very important underpins that fact that it is a living church and offers itself as the spiritual home for the local communities of Kirkland and Blancarn.
We are also part of the Fellside Family of churches, our worshiping tradition is traditional Church of England, using Common Worship. The churches have in common their commitment to the communities they serve. These churches have been and still are part of the spiritual journey of these communities. From the joys of Baptisms and Marriages to the sadness of Funerals. These are all routed in God’s love for the world and the eternal message of Christ unconditional love who walks with us all.
The services we have rotate round the churches during the month from Holy Communion services to special services such as Harvest Festivals, Carol Services and Easter Week. Please come and join us whatever you feel your relationship is with God you are welcome to come and worship with us.
Services in St Lawrence’s are normally the second Sunday of the month at 09:30. But please do contact us to see times for other services especially during special times of the year.
